Keynote for 2013: Michael Hyatt

Michael Hyatt will be the Keynote Speaker for the Training Minds Speech & Debate Camp at Point Loma Nazarene University July 30-August 3. He is a New York Times best-selling author and one of the most sought-after public speakers in the nation. You will want to make every effort to register for the camp because Michael Hyatt will be offering an incredible message to students. He offers three talents to our champion-building program.

1. Michael Hyatt knows how to coach. He’s not one of our trophy-winning, record-breaking debate coaches we have on staff. But he is a professional speech coach for the popular SCORRE Conferences. He’s partner with Ken Davis, author of Secrets of Dynamic Communication, who together coach professional speakers, pastors, entertainers, and anyone seeking to improve as a speaker. Michael Hyatt know’s public speaking!

Competitors who have been around for a while may recall Ken Davis speaking as the Training Minds Keynote in 2011. These guys believe in what they do, that’s for sure. But better yet, they believe in what you are doing in your preparation for speech competition. You will definitely want to gain some coaching from Michael Hyatt at Point Loma in July.

2. Michael Hyatt knows how to build platforms. He wrote a New York Times best-seller Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World. Michael Hyatt’s blog covets over 300,000 email subscribers, quite an impressive following (you can sign up yourself at He’ll be sharing straight from this book and be able to converse straight with students and coaches on how to build significant platforms for their future.

There’s an obvious link, of course. Many of you will be writing platform speeches for competition. Michael’s vision goes beyond competition, and so does the vision of Training Minds. We’re about action. We train students to become champion speakers, yes, but we aspire for students to reach further and make an impact in the world. “Train the mind for action,” 1 Peter 1:13 says. We take that seriously, and so does Michael Hyatt.

3. Michael Hyatt knows how to speak into our lives. As mentioned, he’s one of the most sought-after public speakers in the United States. Though he’s sought after, he doesn’t speak much throughout the year. So, we’re very privileged to have him join us in Point Loma!

Don’t take our word for it. Check out this incredible list of feedback from some of the greatest voices in the world:
